About Me

Hi my name is Nicole and I am a proud book worm.

To me there is nothing better than curling up with a good book and this is my way of sharing my favourite reads, interacting and talking with others who share my love for books and also hearing about the books that others have enjoyed.

I am 21 years old and live in New Zealand (NZ is at the bottom of the world if you are wondering). I finished a BA with a double major in Archaeology and Classics last year and am having 2016 off as a year to work out what I want to with my life. I would love nothing more in live than to spend my all my time reading and spending time with my family, friends and my wonderful horses, cats and dogs.

In reality I spend the majority of my time working a 40 hour week in an office and there are  not enough hours in the day to accomplish as much reading as I wish. This has unfortunately meant that I have hit a bit of a reading slump through the first few months of this year but I am getting back on track!

I love pretty much any genre of book but YA and fantasy and are my immediate go-to. I find these books are great for getting lost in and really making you feel like you have stepped into another world outside of you own.

Science-fiction is a genre that has most grown on me over the last few years. No longer is science-fiction outrageously impossible and unbelievable. Flying cars and advance technology are no longer a thing of the past but an ever growing area of development and as I result I find that science fiction works of the last 5 or so years have lost the cheesy impossibleness that I have otherwise found present in early books.

Because I have a degree in all things old, I try and stay away from Historical fiction as I am always worried that some small incorrect details will ruin what is otherwise a fabulous piece of writing. (But if you know of any series that are really historically accurate - or and author who admits that they are only loosely basing their book on historical events - please let me know).

Mystery/thrillers are perhaps the books I stay away from the most. I really have to be in mood to read one. And by this I mean that I decide I want to read one and pick it up straight away and don't put it down until I have completed the book or series.

Contemporary novels/ New Adult (because for some reason they fall into roughly the same category for me), the more cheesy and smutty the better if you ask me. I tend to pick up contemporary books when I want to read something that is quick and easy. I often find myself picking up these books when I am mentally tired or am in a reading slump.

Happy Reading!
